現代に求められる新しさのひとつは、「相反する要素が緊張感を保ちながら共存する在り方」ではないだろうか

＜RELAXED BOUTIQUE　―居心地よい大人のブティック＞をテーマとして掲げた本計画では、オールド上海のレンガ組積造を現代的に再解釈し、光・音・匂いが緩やかに交わるポーラスなガラスブロック壁による半個室空間を考案

一方、中国の団らん文化における“円卓の求心力”を、現代的な光の装置として再構築。円卓上には筒状の光溜まりを生む天吊照明を計画し、卓を囲む人々の顔が柔らかく浮かび上がるような、中国古来の灯りの記憶を現代空間へと翻訳した

プライバシーと賑わい、組積と天吊、自然と人工、昼と夜、ローカルとグローバルといった対比を重ね合わせ、“洗練されたカオス”を内包する上海らしい夜の居場所を目指した

One form of novelty demanded in the contemporary era may lie in the coexistence of opposing elements held in a state of tension.

Centered on the theme of “RELAXED BOUTIQUE” this project reinterprets the brick masonry of old Shanghai through a contemporary lens, proposing semi-private spaces enclosed by porous glass-block walls through which light, sound, and scent gently intermingle.

At the same time, the centripetal quality inherent in the Chinese culture of gathering around the round table is reconstructed as a contemporary lighting device. Suspended lighting above each table creates cylindrical pools of light, softly illuminating the faces gathered around it, translating the memory of traditional Chinese illumination into a contemporary spatial experience.

By layering contrasts such as privacy and liveliness, masonry and suspended elements, natural and artificial, day and night, local and global, the project aspires to create a distinctly Shanghai-like nocturnal environment—one that embraces a sense of “refined chaos.”
